Climate issues affect everyone we know and everything we love. The human race has solutions in hand to address the impacts of climate change, yet we are not making the necessary adjustments quickly enough. Fear-based messaging on these issues is not working and possibly making the situation worse. Half of all Americans feel helpless and are unsure of how to start addressing the issues. Real change stems from leadership grounded in connection, compassion, courage, and love.

Join Syracuse University and One Earth Leadership for a different kind of sustainability leadership initiative where you will:

  • Learn about climate change issues by connecting the dots between personal, organizational, and planetary thriving.
  • Deepen self-awareness, personal well-being, and resilience through learning a variety of contemplative practices aimed at mitigating eco-anxiety.
  • Develop and present SMART leadership goals for yourself, your community, and/or your organization.
  • Engage with change management practices to support your leadership goals.
  • Experience a variety of peer coaching methods and professional mentoring.
  • Expand your network of change-makers to enhance community engagement.

Participants will earn a foundations microcredential from completing phases I, II, III, or can continue on to earn an impact microcredential by completing a portfolio review.

Continue on for a Portfolio Review for Sustainability Leadership Microcredential

All participants in the Sustainability Leadership Program will have the opportunity to put the approaches into practice in their own organization or community, creating a Project Portfolio for evaluation by the instructors. This Project Portfolio will be a collection of documents, videos, and/or other media, that, when taken together, show how the various components of the Sustainability Leadership Program either have been, or could be, put into practice by the participant in their chosen organization, community or circle of influence. Rationale for each of the portfolio components must accompany the evaluation package, and that rationale should demonstrate how each of the principles learned in the SL program plays a part in their portfolio. A mastery evaluation will be performed on the portfolio by the instructors to determine if it meets the criteria for achievement (that it demonstrates either a planned, or executed, practical implementation of the key seminar principles). Participants meeting the criteria will be awarded a digital credential marking the evidence of achievement of the intended learning outcomes.  More information will be provided during the program sessions. Participants may elect this option by registering separately for the Portfolio Evaluation and paying the required additional fee.
