Carlee Kerr is an educator and higher education professional whose work centers on student access, belonging, and success. She currently serves as an Academic and Admissions Advisor in Syracuse University’s College of Professional Studies Higher Education Opportunity Program (HEOP), where she supports students through the admissions process, academic journey, and transition into higher education.
Carlee brings experience in teaching, curriculum development, student programming, and college access. She currently serves as a Lead Instructor for Syracuse University’s First Year Seminar and previously served as a Program Assistant, where she facilitated student-centered learning and contributed to the development and adaptation of curriculum for incoming first-year and transfer students. Her work also included coordinating programming for more than 220 course sections and developing experiences designed to foster student belonging and engagement.
Prior to Syracuse University, Carlee worked in college access and academic coaching through the Rhode Island College Advising Corps and Community College of Rhode Island’s Access Plus Program, supporting students as they navigated pathways to and through higher education. Carlee’s work is also deeply informed by her experience in diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA). Through her work in Syracuse University’s Office of Diversity and Inclusion, she developed and facilitated DEIA-focused workshops, supported initiatives centered on belonging and inclusion, and contributed to programming and assessment designed to create more inclusive educational environments. Carlee earned her M.S. in Higher Education from Syracuse University and her B.A. in History and Gender and Women’s Studies, magna cum laude, from the University of Rhode Island. In BPS 101, Carlee is excited to bring her passion to the classroom by creating a learning environment where students’ identities, experiences, and perspectives are explored and valued.
