International Programs at Syracuse University

Our goal is to make Syracuse University accessible to a geographically diverse population. Through our international programs, we are creating avenues for international students to start earning college credit at Syracuse University online from their home countries, or engage in noncredit English language training to improve academic and business-focused English skills.

We also provide customizable programs for local and international businesses to amplify leadership skills within their organizations through our executive education programs. Focusing on leadership development with optional international business modules, you can skill your employees in globalization and presenting to international audiences in executive English.

International Year One (iY-1) Program

The iY-1 Program is a valuable solution for international students that offers unprecedented access to US higher education and greater levels of student success than in any other program or route to the US. Syracuse University, in partnership with Interlearn, Inc, has developed a special blended learning first year university curriculum for students in designated countries. This program replaces troublesome application requirements with a practical education and advantageous admission.

International students who qualify for this program begin Syracuse University classes in their home countries, usually their hometowns, taking credit-bearing courses, language lessons, and culture and study skills modules from Syracuse University faculty and local teachers. Upon successful completion of the program, students continue into their second undergraduate year on the Syracuse University campus or at partner institutions in the US.
