Judy Teng, Ph.D.

 

Judy Teng (she/her/hers) joins the College of Professional Studies in March, 2022 as Executive Director of Center for Online and Digital Learning and in June, 2023 as a non-tenure track Associate Teaching professor. She oversees the Center for the design and development of online programs at Syracuse University. Additionally, she teaches for online faculty development training as well as other courses as needed.

Teng has over 20+ years of experience in higher education. Prior to joining Syracuse University, Teng was a Senior Instructional Designer at George Washington University in 2019 -2021, where she oversaw transition to online environment, established course design and development readiness, ensured online course quality and compliances, guided technology infrastructure and academic support processes for a globally dispersed student population. Prior
to George Washington University, in 2003 -2019, Teng held leadership and innovation design positions at Albany College of Pharmacy and Sciences, State University of New York at Albany, and The College of Saint Rose. Teng taught
courses, conducted faculty development training in Instructional Design and Development, Emerging Technology, Multimedia Integration, Assessment and Evaluation, and ESL.


Teng’s research focuses on curriculum and instructional design and development, faculty development, student learning assessment, program development, and program evaluation. Teng firmly believes in the power and
benefits that online education can provide to a diverse student population. She published papers of her research and practice in professional journals and presented at regional, national, and international conferences. She
constantly collaborated with colleagues in the field on cutting edge technologies, pedagogies, and best practices.


Teng has served as a member of Online Learning Consortium (OLC), Association for the Advancement of Computing in Education (AACE), and EDUCAUSE. She has coordinated regional conferences and training programs for Northeast Regional Computing Program (NERCOMP).

Professor Teng has served in the Educational Excellence and Student Success Working Group for the University’s Academic Strategic Planning Committee in 2022. She has served or chaired multiple committees from her prior positions, for example, Provost Online Education Committee, Middle State Review Committee, Curriculum Mapping Committee, and Instructional Innovation Committee, to name a few.

Teng earned a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from State University of New York, University at Albany, an M.S. in Educational Psychology from The College of Saint Rose, and a B.A. in Teacher Education from Jilin Normal
University. In addition, Teng maintains professional certifications in technology-mediated instruction, instructional design quality and learning innovation from EDUCAUSE and Quality Matters.
