After submitting an application, applicants participate in an interview and English assessment to identify the best entry point into iY-1 for them. Depending on the assessment results, applicants may require a 12-week or 6-week Pre-Sessional English course. This will be conducted entirely online during the Summer of 2024 or a 4-week program at the start of the Fall 2024 semester.

Participating in the Pre-Sessional English program will:

  • Enhance your academic English skills, preparing you for the full iY-1 program
  • Engage in interactive online sessions with Syracuse University instructors and complete independent study tasks

These live sessions will run approximately 10-12 hours per week. Successfully completing the required Pre-Sessional English program guarantees your admission to the iY-1 program.
