The Golisano Institute for Business & Entrepreneurship, located in Rochester, New York, was founded by Thomas Golisano to efficiently train entrepreneurs in the upstate New York region with the goal of making a premier business education accessible for all. The Institute offers an affordable two-year alternative path to a business education for high need/high achieving high school graduates and young professionals. Their certificate program provides an intensive immersion in business-related coursework and an experiential learning environment.
The Institute has engaged with the Syracuse University College of Professional Studies (CPS) to create opportunities for Syracuse University faculty to:
- advise the Institute regarding its course content
- to validate the achievement of Institute students who satisfy the jointly-developed success criteria of market-relevant knowledge areas through the awarding of digital badges for these microcredentials, and
- to establish pathways through which graduates of the Institute’s two-year program could receive credit toward completion of a bachelor’s degree at the College of Professional Studies.
The relationship with the Institute reaffirms the College’s commitment to providing access to Syracuse University for non-traditional students who want to transform their lives, and their communities, through education.
