Robert P. Otten established the Lois C. Otten scholarship with Syracuse University in 1981 to provide assistance to students enrolled in a degree program through the College of Professional Studies, with preference given to those participating in the Independent Study Degree Programs. With the retirement of Independent Study Degree programs, the College of Professional Studies Scholarship Committee continues the donor’s intentions, awarding the Lois C. Otten scholarships to undergraduate(s) enrolled in the Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies or Associate of Arts in Liberal Arts. It is based primarily on merit, but financial need is also considered.
