Register for Classes

When you’re registering for classes, first be sure that you meet all the academic prerequisites for those classes. They’re indicated in the class listings and descriptions on MySlice  and in the credit course catalog. Also remember that you must maintain standards of academic achievement and good citizenship outlined in the SU Code of Student Conduct while a student at Syracuse University.

Search for Classes

MySlice class search allows you to view up-to-date credit class information online. There are many different search options. Listed below are some common criteria that you can use to search.


Search by Subject Area

  1. Make sure Current Semester is selected for the Term.
  2. Click the drop down arrow to the right of Subject Area to select a subject (example: Accounting, Advertising)
  3. Click on Search at the bottom of page.

Search by Session

  1. Make sure Current Semester is selected for the Term.
  2. Click on Search at the bottom of page.

Search by Mode of Instruction

  1. Make sure Current Semester is selected for the Term.
  2. Click the drop down arrow to the right of Mode of Instruction.
    Mode of Instruction is:
  • In Person (P): All meetings of this class section will be held in person.
  • Online (O): None of the meetings of this class section will be held in person.  Online classes will meet synchronously (on specific days and times) or asynchronously (meeting online without defined day or time).
  • Hybrid (H): Meetings of this class section will be a combination of in-person and online.  The online component of the course may be synchronous or asynchronous.
  • Flexible Format (FF):
    • does not coincide with the designated meeting patterns associated with the University’s published official terms;
    • has unique academic and financial deadlines;
    • has the same academic standards and expectations as regular semester classes
    • may be available to matriculated and non-matriculated students
    • may fulfill program requirements.
