Emily Workman Love (fmr Luther) teaches courses in academic and professional writing, rhetoric, literature, and grammar, and she often works as a one-on-one writing support consultant for beginning and advanced writers at SU. She has designed, implemented, and facilitated writing courses and workshops for students and colleagues in several departments at SU, for several local universities, and for high schools in New York and other parts of the country. Emily is also a non-profit leader and entrepreneur who offers yoga and holistic healing for children, families, and educators across the country, most recently through her work with Yoga 4 The World, a 501C-3 nonprofit working towards greater access to mindfulness and movement for underserved communities. She has home bases in Syracuse and the Philadelphia region, extending her teaching efforts across regions she lives and visits. She is also an instructor with the American Sanskrit Institute. Throughout her career, Emily has held a long-term commitment to developing educational opportunities for students from diverse backgrounds and economic status, including refugees, international students, part-time students, and first-generation college students. She is a faculty visitor for Syracuse University Project Advance, a program that hosts SU classes on high school campuses nationwide. She holds a master’s degree in English and a graduate certificate in Women’s and Gender studies from Syracuse University, a bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education from SUNY Fredonia, and several certifications in Yoga and Sanskrit studies & Trauma-Informed service work. She often serves as a child advocate for those who’ve experienced abuse or maltreatment. In addition to her teaching career, Emily is a writer, artist, animal lover and a mom.
